Portland's Japanese garden.

Said to be the best Japanese garden in the states, the Portland Japanese garden took my breath away. I went there Thursday morning with my wife and friend mike savage, and found a wealth of inspiration and sense of home. I'll be going back in about 3 weeks after everything has bloomed to do some on sight painting studies.

DARUMA

Alas, after a week of crawling into every dark corner of the web, i finally found the name of this figure. its been on my mind heavily these days for a grand painting i plan on doing. i am asked frequently where my inspiration comes from. a lot of it comes from folk and myth from other cultures. the story of daruma(japanese) or bodhidarma(chinese) is a rich and a bit grotesk story of the man who is claimed to bring Zen and Shaolin Kungfu to china. this link will describe in detail:DARUMA

Rare gem I found in my new house

For any typographer or eccentric interior designer, finding a box of old industrial Nuetra letters will leave you in elated san serif dizzyness. I've managed to make "my canines aparatus" with the letters.

The Glue Network benefit Mural at MAGIC
I just got back last night from 4 exhausting days in VegASS. I joined 5 other very talented artists, J. Shea, Tommii Lim, Joshua Clay, Serge Gay Jr., and Kelli Murray, to create a 24' x 8' mural that was themed around "Hope". After nurmerous sketches and concepts we settled on a surreal idea that displayed towering "Hope Farmers" over a grand rolling landscape. Besides the great cause and exposure for the glue network we raised $15k and sold the mural to the CEO of Kangol. A Vegas charity group, stand up for kids was the main recepient who empowers, helps and stabilizes homeless youth across the country.
